Kava Kava is a Polynesian herb that is excellent as a remedy for insomnia and nervousness. Taken at night, it invokes a deep restful sleep with clear epic-length dreams. It is valuable when only a few hours sleep are possible. Kava Kava is a potent analgesic that may be taken internally or applied directly to a painful wound. It is also antispetic and may be used as a douche for vaginitis or as a valuable diuretic for treating urinary tract infections. It is used in Polynesia as a beverage and as a daily tonic. However, regular use of large doses will cause accumulation of toxic substances in the liver. The Way of Herbs by Michael Tierra, C.A.,N.D. Pg. 177
